Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how MarketMutt uses cookies, browser storage, and related technologies to operate its website, maintain account sessions, remember user preferences, and support essential website functionality. This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The technologies used may change as MarketMutt introduces additional services or functionality.

1. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE

This Cookie Policy explains how MarketMutt (“MarketMutt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies, browser storage, and related technologies to operate its website, maintain account sessions, remember user preferences, and support essential website functionality. This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The technologies used may change as MarketMutt introduces additional services or functionality.

2. WHAT COOKIES AND BROWSER STORAGE ARE

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a website in a user's browser. Cookies may be temporary session cookies or persistent cookies that remain until they expire or are deleted. Browser local storage is a separate technology that allows websites to remember information and preferences on a user's device. MarketMutt uses these technologies for different purposes, including account authentication, website preferences, and watchlist functionality. Cookies and local storage are not interchangeable, and deleting one does not necessarily remove the other.

3. ESSENTIAL COOKIES AND ACCOUNT SECURITY

MarketMutt uses an account session cookie named marketmutt_session to recognize authenticated users and maintain secure account access. This cookie is configured with HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax protections and uses the Secure attribute on the production website. Its maximum configured lifetime is 30 days. Signing out clears the browser session cookie. Essential authentication cookies support account security and basic website functionality. Disabling or blocking these cookies may prevent users from signing in or accessing account-related features.

4. APPEARANCE PREFERENCES AND WEBSITE SETTINGS

MarketMutt uses browser local storage to remember certain website preferences. For example, the marketmutt-theme storage key remembers whether a user selects the Light or Dark appearance setting. This information allows the website to maintain the selected appearance between visits. These preferences are stored in the user's browser and may be reset by clearing browser storage or changing the setting within MarketMutt.

5. WATCHLISTS AND SAVED INFORMATION

MarketMutt may use browser local storage to remember selected stock symbols, company names, favorites, and other watchlist-related preferences. Certain account-based watchlist information may also be synchronized with MarketMutt's database, depending on the user's account and available features. Clearing browser storage may remove information saved only on the device. Information already synchronized with an account may remain available according to the applicable account features and retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.

6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, ANALYTICS, AND ADVERTISING

MarketMutt uses third-party technology providers for certain website operations, which may include hosting, authentication, payment processing, security, and other technical services. These providers may process technical information or use their own cookies when their services are accessed. The specific technologies involved depend on the services and integrations in use. MarketMutt does not currently identify Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or targeted-advertising cookies as active technologies in the application code previously reviewed. If we introduce optional analytics, advertising pixels, embedded content, or other nonessential tracking technologies, we will update our disclosures and provide any legally required notices, consent mechanisms, or privacy choices before using them.

7. USER CHOICES AND COOKIE MANAGEMENT

Users can review, block, or delete cookies and browser storage through their browser's privacy or website-data settings. Most browsers provide controls for managing cookies, clearing stored information, and limiting certain tracking technologies. Blocking essential cookies may interfere with account authentication or other necessary website functions. Clearing local storage may reset appearance preferences and remove watchlist information that has not been synchronized. Users can also change their Light or Dark appearance preference directly through MarketMutt. Where applicable law requires additional consent or opt-out choices for nonessential tracking, MarketMutt will provide those choices in connection with the relevant technology.

8. POLICY UPDATES AND CONTACT INFORMATION

MarketMutt may revise this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in website functionality, third-party services, privacy practices, or applicable legal requirements. The current version will be published on the MarketMutt website with an updated revision date.
